Iowa House District 28

Iowa House District 28 is located in Dallas County. It is shown on the map in blue. It includes the cities of West Des Moines, Van Meter, Adel, and surrounding areas. It includes residences with a Waukee address in unincorporated Dallas County. Neighboring districts are House District 27 represented by Kenan Judge-D and part of House District 31 represented by Mary Madison-D. Each Iowa House District includes approximately 35,000 residents. There are 100 House Districts in Iowa.


In District 28, there are 24,578 total registered voters broken down as follows:  9,472-- Non-Party, 8,564-- Republicans, and 6,542 Democrats. The incumbent representative is David Young-R. He won the seat by just 907 votes in 2022 and 1,286 votes in 2024. In 2024, Harris and Trump split the votes in the district. Winning the seat has been a priority of the statehouse Democrats each year.
