Meet Tom Walton. He's running for iowa house district 28

Smiling family of four with their dog sitting on green grass outdoors.

Qualified. Capable. Caring.

Tom Walton has dedicated his career to serving his clients and communities in Iowa House District 28. A native Iowan, he has lived near Van Meter for over 20 years. Graduating among the top 10 in his law school class, Tom has practiced law for over 36 years in private practice and currently serves as General Counsel for an Iowa-based nonprofit company.

He is the immediate past Chair of the Dallas County Democrats and has chaired various non-profits, including a childcare academy that supports a minority community and an organization focused on civic engagement and leadership. His leadership experience extends to being appointed by both Democratic and Republican Governors to lead Iowa state boards and commissions that concentrate on criminal justice and public safety.

Tom comes from a family of educators. He is the youngest of five children. His interests include history, live music, and sports. He is a long-time  practical Democrat. Tom's wife of 36 years, Lori, works as a speech pathologist at Broadlawns Hospital. They met in high school in their hometown of Cedar Falls. Their children, Nathan and Cari, both attended public school in Van Meter. Nathan is now an Internal Medicine Doctor, while Cari has pursued her passion as a performing artist with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre.

YOUR VOICE. YOUR VALUES. YOUR IOWA.

YOUR VOICE. All Iowans must be heard, not just one ruling party.

YOUR VALUES. You value common decency, opportunity, great free schools, and a better quality of life for all. These principles will guide  Tom's campaign.

YOUR IOWA. You love Iowa and want to make it better. It is your House too!

Get Involved. I could use A Hand.

Tell a neighbor or friend. Volunteer. Give what you can.

I need your help to reach out to others in our neighborhood, put up yard signs, hand out information, and contribute whatever you can. This race in Iowa House District 28 was lost in 2024 by a small margin.  Harris and Trump split the district, which includes West Des Moines, Van Meter, Adel, and surrounding areas. With your support, we can win it in 2026. My opponent spent almost $1 million in the last election! I don't need that much to win because your volunteer time is worth more than that.

My opponent spent almost $1 million in 2024 on his race for Iowa House District 28, but he only won by a small margin. Trump and Harris tied in this district. With the support of your contributions, we can win it with a fraction of that amount for the Tom Walton campaign. Thank you for backing Walton for Iowa!
